Bricks, clinkers, geometric shapes made of clay, symbols of human creation and structure, are being overgrown from within by the silent but powerful life of lichens. Slowly but surely, the lichens seem to displace and consume the form, symbolising the transience of human structures. The lichen grows like a gemstone, an unexpected beauty that reveals itself amid decay.
Silent Witnesses remind us of the resilience of nature and its timeless presence. Lichens have witnessed wars, climate change and the emergence of human civilisations. They were here before us and will probably be here after us.
